Turn Two

Cheers, music lovers, and happy new year! We’re diving right into season two of Under Exposed with emerging pop punk power players, Turn Two. If you’re into legacy favorites like Fall Out Boy, Blink-182, and Simple Plan (and if you’re not… are you ok?) you’re going to love these guys. Founding members Matt (guitar) and Shane (drums) had all but lost hope in finding their perfect third, vocalist Mike appeared to save the day. Shortly after they found bassist Mason, at a baseball game of all places, and the band came to life. In the year since they came together, Turn Two has released their debut EP, Darkest Days, and they’ve taken it on the road up and down the East Coast. Their sound is upbeat and playful, with a healthy pinch of edge to keep it interesting. With their delightfully danceable bops and infectious energy, Turn Two is determined to get you on your feet and out of your head. Fans in the NJ area can catch Turn Two at their next scheduled gig on February 22nd alongside Good Terms at the House of Independents, or February 26th supporting NAPNET friend Gabe Woodrow at Debonair Music Hall. Follow Turn Two (@turntwoband) on all the standard socials, and keep your ears tuned to the streaming waves (Spotify, Amazon, and Apple Music) so you don’t miss a beat! Keep on scrolling to read my rapid fire interview with the guys of Turn Two, and get to know them in their own words!

Lightning Round Q&A

If you had to credit one band or artist with being your biggest influence, who would it be?

I think it would have to be Jimmy Eat World. They are the epitome of the band that cannot put out bad music. Probably our collectively favorite band. They are consistent, fun, thoughtful, and emotional. We strive to be like them.

What’s your dream venue, the place that will feel like you’ve “made it” once you've played there?

Oh man, I would have to say the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, NJ. That’s like my home town, I’ve been going to shows there for decades now. The Stone Pony has an inside stage which is amazing and I have had the honor of playing on it before, but over the last 6/7 years they have been doing shows in the summer on a massive outdoor stage. Everyone in town can hear from blocks away and it fits a couple thousand people. Just being in a town I grew up going to shows in and having people see me on that big stage in the same place would be a magical experience.

If you could pick any band or artist, past or present, to tour with, who would it be?

I think we would probably say Fall Out Boy. I mean, we love them. You can clearly hear their influence in our sound. Plus they play stadiums, so it would be insane to be able to do that as an opener for them.

If each of you was a Disney character, who would you be?

Mike - Genie

 Mason - Kronk

 Matt - Sid (Toy Story)

 Shane - Rafiki

Any new music or upcoming tours we should know about? Anything brewing behind the scenes you can give a hint about?

We are going into the studio at the end of November to record our new EP. It’ll be 7 songs. Next year we will try to play as many gigs as we possibly can so hit us up if you like our music and want us to play near you! We’ll be posting a lot of live and behind the scenes stuff when we are in the studio so follow us on all socials and be on the look out
