Honestly, I don’t possess the vocabulary sufficient to appropriately introduce this next Under Exposed artist. They are unlike anything I have ever heard before, they are indignant, unbothered, and absolutely hilarious. They are @Malört & Savior .
The apocryphal six piece hails from the holy land of Chicago; while they spent their early days as an open-mic cover band, the real magic happened when they began to explore producing original songs during the dark days of 2020. What they came up with is absolutely delightful. As the band name reflects, these guys are expert pun-artists, many of their songs are packed with clever quips that bring laughter and levity to the same standard, emotionally heavy themes that define the emo/punk genres. Malört and Savior don’t shy away from the hard stuff, nor do they sugar coat it; instead they put it right out in the open and harass the living hell out of it. Their sound leans a bit Cali-pop punk, though they are not afraid to play with different sounds and textures to bring out the best in each individual song. Malört and Savior offers a little bit of something for every flavor of emo kid; I promise if you spend some time with their discography, you’ll be a fan before you know it. Fans (both current and prospective) can follow along with the band on Instagram [@malortandsaviorband] and tune in to Spotify or Limewire to give them a listen.
