Possibly the greatest thing to come of our modern emo revival is the new and interesting ways emerging bands are playing with sounds and textures, crossing sub-genre boundaries in ways that were entirely unheard of in the past. Up and coming pop punk act, In Balance do a tremendous job of blurring lines across the alt umbrella, and the results stand for themselves.
Truth be told, to call in balance “underexposed” is a bit of a stretch; since releasing their first single in 2023, the band has skyrocketed in popularity with their catchy, danceable tunes and oh-so-relatable lyrics. The foursome describe their sound as “like the best parts of growing up, but louder,” and I have to agree. Their latest single, ‘Two Steps Behind’, feels like driving home from a show on a summer night in high school, only without the curfew.
