We are mere days away from the next Warped Tour stop, and I’ll be honest, the FOMO is real. While my NAPNET teammates will be living it up in sunny Long Beach, at least I’ll have my playlist to keep me company. For those of you lucky enough to be attending this weekend, allow me to add one more band to your must-see set list: Mutant Beans.
Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands winners, Mutant Beans, are bringing all the energy to their Warped Tour debut. Inspired by icons such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, and Limp Bizkit, the California based four piece deliver an intense and truly unique experience; surely they are not to be slept on. Their journey to Warped Tour has been a long one; from their earliest beginnings in 2014 to finalizing their lineup in 2021 and this year throwing their hat into the proverbial ring without any expectations and pulling off a win they never saw coming (but very much deserved). Their sound is powerful; combining heart pounding rhythms, driving melodies, and strong lyrical messages that will stop you in your tracks and demand your immediate attention. With more shows and new music on the horizon, Mutant Beans is ready to take over your hearts and your playlists; watch out.

Don’t forget to save the Under Exposed playlist on Spotify to listen to my favorites from Mutant Beans, and the rest of the Under Exposed lineup!

What is your favorite memory from Warped Tours past?
My first crowd surf watching Neck Deep while they were playing Kali Ma, which inspired my first tattoo.
On the 2005 edition in San Diego I remember being surprised of seeing a Mexican band playing there , it was Los Kung Fu Monkeys! Also great memories seeing Offspring, Thrice, Transplants, Atreyu and Underoath.
Who are you most looking forward to seeing perform at Warped Tour DC?
Jinjer, Drain, Papa Roach and Jimmy Eat World!
Jinjer and División Minuscula
Papa Roach, Drain and Jinjer
Probably XCOMM, but also Drain and Underoath
If you could jump on stage and join in any set this year, who would you choose?
Allison or Drain
División Minuscula
Papa Roach or Reel Big Fish
All Time Low or The Story So Far!
If each of you was a Disney character, who would you be?
Jim Hawkings from Treasure Planet, trying to be rebellious and caring haha
I’ll be Wall-E, trying to save plants and humanity somehow
Honest John From Pinocchio
I’ll have to go with the first Disney movie I was obsessed as a kid, so I’ll definitely be Woody from Toy Story
If we gave out high-school superlatives today, what would each of you win
Most likely to fall, I’m well known to have a lot of accidents haha
Most likely to end up in jail
Most against all authority (I fought the law and I won)
Most likely to be late. I’m always late. I’m sorry.
Who has the weirdest tour habits or pre-show rituals?
Irving, he does 100 jumps, 100 push ups, 2 minutes planks and shadow boxing before getting into the stage, rest of the guys just chill haha.
Any new music or upcoming tours we should know about? Anything brewing behind the scenes you can give a hint about?
This year we have been releasing new singles that are part of our new album “Street Funk Warriors”, there are still 2 more to be released before the album drops so stay tuned! Right now you can hear “Funk the System”,”Don Veneno” and “Montreal Groove in all platforms!
We are getting more show announced soon in California and Nevada, so after Warped we’re still rocking!
