Most fans of the scene are well aware of the often frustrating tradition of musicians, typically drummers (I'm lookin' at you, Mr. Willard) and other non-vocal players, joining and leaving bands as the winds carry them. My new friends, @lovelost , have turned that tradition on its ear. Borrowing from common EDM practices, the band has intentionally never pursued a permanent lead vocalist. Instead, Lovelost focuses heavily on instrumentals; carefully composing their arrangements with texture and depth, and collaborating with different artists to fill in vocal parts on each song. The result is a fascinating musical experience, where the songs have a tangible musical continuity but each vocalist brings a fresh, unique take to their own collaborative project. The group’s origins are equally unprecedented, as what was meant to be a casual reunion among friends to cover a Taylor Swift song nearly immediately resulted in the accidental creation of what is easily the most unique band structure in the scene. Pop-punk enthusiasts looking for something a little different are sure to enjoy Lovelost’s signature sound and eclectic vocal variety.
