If you’ve ever doubted the power of arts education, this week’s featured artist, Petrichor, is here to prove to you just how powerful it can be. The DC based punk four-piece emerged from a summer at music camp, where childhood friends found a shared passion and more momentum than many adult musicians ever manage. Aged just 14-16, these kids mean business; they’ve already released a super solid debut EP, and are touring it whenever school schedules allow. Petrichor’s sound is distinct and impressively mature; they lean heavily towards a classic punk-garage-band vibe, with unexpected rhythms, catching melodies, and carefully crafted dissonance that will grab the attention of even the most distinguished listening ears. Safe to say that the future of the scene is brighter than the sun over Warped Tour with the likes of Petrichor to carry us all forward.

What’s the craziest, cringiest thing you’ve done for the sake of your music?
The first song I wrote for Petrichor was a breakup song that came from my own breakup, and it's still unbearable for me to hear. It's just still way too close.
Def playing "Sandman" or "Crazy Train" any time there's a break in the music
I asked my friend to tell me the details of liking someone who already has a boyfriend so I could write about it, because I had so little going on in my life
I asked my ex if I could quote her texts to use them in a song. And she said yes!
If we gave out high-school superlatives today, what would each of you win?
Most likely to get expelled . . . or maybe to end up as president. It could go either way
