I’ll be honest with you, chat, my main motivation for getting this interview was to find out what the hell “Green Knuckle Material” is. Sadly… I still have no idea. But it’s cool because this is easily one of my favorite bands I’ve ever had the pleasure of introducing, so I’ll accept the mystery and call it “lore”. For now.
Green Knuckle Material, are a powerhouse pop rock four piece, but that hasn’t always been true. The band has existed for more than a decade, varying in members from two to ten, and covering a scope of genres wider than a Warped Tour circle pit. Today, yDK ( vocals, rhythm guitar), The Cuban Missile (lead guitar), Chrizz (drums), and DString (bass), deliver a hypnotic sound, reminiscent of what Maroon 5 might sound like if they spent a little too much time hanging out with the punks over summer break. Their instrumentals are bold, daringly percussive, and impossible to ignore. With sharp storytelling and powerful vocals, Green Knuckle Material can easily stand shoulder to shoulder with any chart-topping pop or alt artist you can name. Their latest record, “Open Your Eyes”, is certified zero skips; top to bottom bangers, absolutely worthy of a listen (or ten).

How did you come up with your band's name?
To this day, nobody knows. Legend has it that there was a guy, who’s now a tree, that said the first three words that came to his head, and somehow it stuck 10 years later, even if none of the current members have any idea how. What is “Green Knuckle Material”? It’s nothing and everything. Meaninglessness and meaning itself. It’s what happens when something comes from nothing but everything creates the nothing from which something comes. Philosophy aside, it makes us really easy to find and really hard to forget.
What’s your dream venue, the place that will feel like you’ve “made it” once you've played there?
It would have to be either the Stone Pony Summer Stage or PNC.
If you could pick any band or artist, past or present, to tour with, who would it be?
