To commemorate Volume 20 of this series (and my birthday) I am beyond stoked to introduce you to the loveliest bunch of musicians I’ve had the privilege to know. Readers, meet @Roderik .
Inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher, Roderik began as a rag-tag bunch of musicians looking for an escape from an increasingly dark and chaotic world. The band has taken their time defining their sound and establishing a presence; after releasing several (fantastic) experimental singles Roderik’s signature dark romantic essence and full, floor shaking sound are well defined and grabbing the attention of fans across the scene.
Beyond their powerful arrangements and emotionally charged lyrics, Roderik set themselves apart with their unfailing dedication to connecting with their fans. I was lucky to catch them on the tail end of their recent tour, at the most unique of small (read tiny) venues. The band’s massive energy nearly blew the roof off of the room, and front man Jake took every opportunity to step into the crowd, making each person in attendance feel like they were part of the show. It was the sort of experience that sticks with you, a moment in time where the world stood still and all that mattered was the music. It’s wild to think these guys are only just beginning; fans who pride themselves on catching bandwagons before they take off will absolutely want to hop onto this one, and fast.

Interview
Cameron Conrad sits down with Roderik
What’s your dream venue, the place that will feel like you’ve “made it” once you play there?
If you could pick any band or artist, past or present, to tour with, who would it be?
If you were a Disney character, who would you be?
[Jake] Coco! I come from Mexican descent and can relate to the no music in this family thing. If my family had it their way, I would have been a mechanic or something.
If we were to give out high school superlatives today, what would each of you win?
Jake- Most talkative
Dave- Most likely to be AI
Steve- Most likely to win on survivor
Any new music or upcoming tours we should know about? Anything brewing behind the scenes you can give a hint about?
